controversial 1970s comic
published by IPC, which featured
strips such as Hookjaw and
Kids
Rule. Right wing moral outrage
over the
comic's content lead to its
suspension and subsequent
much-diluted relaunch before
the title finally emerged
with Battle.
The brainchild of Pat Mills, the
comic is largely credited as being
the direct forerunner of 2000AD.
it's French not English
and its hilarious,
though some of the English
don't think so
This site deals mainly with
the British adventure comics of
the 1950's, 1960's & 1970's
especially The Hotspur, The Rover,
A website dedicated to those
great institutions, the
British Comic and Story Paper.
The first issue of
Lion( 23rd February 1952)
consisted of 24 pages
with just the front page
being in colour
considered by many to be
the best girls comic ever
